Hollow structural section (HSS) is a type of steel tubing that is made to be incredibly strong. Although often made as square tubing, it can be made in a variety of shapes. Some of the most popular shapes include both round and rectangular tubing.
Because this kind of steel is so strong, it’s frequently used in buildings as structural supports (thus its name). Plus, it’s fire-resistant and doesn’t warp, twist, split, swell or shrink. It’s easy to fabricate and can be readily bent, formed, punched and drilled as well.
